All Abilities

MELBOURNE ALL ABILITIES CRICKET ASSOCIATION (MAACA)

Frankston Peninsula Dolphins Sports joined our club as the Seaford Tigers in season 2016/17. They currently play in the MAACA Division 2 comp on a Sunday (Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association). MAACA was born out of a desire to provide the opportunity for people of all backgrounds with various mixed abilities/disabilities to be involved in the game of cricket.

Rules are modified to allow as many as possible to participate, who otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in a regular cricket season. Competition fixtures and ladders are posted on My Cricket and just like a regular competition, players have the opportunity to progress. They could be part of the Victorian all abilities squad and ultimately play for Australia as part of the Harmony in Cricket Program.

All Abilities is open to any player with a disability. “Disability” means a disability as defined by the Disability Act 2006 that a person requires ongoing support by the Department of Human Services or other disability provider or there is other medical evidence that supports that the person has a disability that would qualify them for ongoing support from the Department of Human Services.

VICTORIAN VIKINGS & AUSTRALIAN ALL ABILITIES SQUAD
Each year, a Victoria Vikings team is chosen to compete in the National Cricket Inclusion Championships, offering players from across Victoria access to high-performance coaching and the opportunity to aspire to represent Australia. Members of this team are selected from traditional community cricket clubs and the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA).

Congratulations to Seaford Tigers player Lachlan Mitchell, who has been a part of the Vikings team since the 2022/23 season. Lachlan's achievements also include his selection for Australia's 2023 ID squad, where he competed in a tri-series featuring six T20 matches against England and South Africa held in Pretoria.

VALE COACH ALAN QUAIFE
We fondly remember Alan Quaife, a dedicated coach and mentor whose lifelong commitment to sport left an indelible mark on our community. With a rich history in football, including coaching multiple clubs and earning numerous premierships, Alan's passion extended to rebuilding lives through 'Frankston Peninsula Dolphin Sports' (FPDS), where he coached and mentored various sporting teams.

For six years, Alan volunteered countless hours to coach FPDS football, basketball, and the inaugural Seaford Tigers MAACA team, impacting countless lives along the way.

Recognised as Frankston's Senior Citizen of the Year in 2015 and Volunteer of the Year in 2018, Alan's accolades reflect his tireless dedication to every facet of his teams. His legacy continues to inspire us, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
