MELBOURNE ALL ABILITIES CRICKET ASSOCIATION (MAACA)
LEAGUE BACKGROUND
Frankston Peninsula Dolphins Sports joined our club as the Seaford Tigers in season 2016/17. They currently play in the MAACA Division 2 comp on a Sunday (Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association). MAACA was born out of a desire to provide the opportunity for people of all backgrounds with various mixed abilities/disabilities to be involved in the game of cricket.
Rules are modified to allow as many as possible to participate, who otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in a regular cricket season. Competition fixtures and ladders are posted on My Cricket and just like a regular competition, players have the opportunity to progress. They could be part of the Victorian all abilities squad and ultimately play for Australia as part of the Harmony in Cricket Program.
All Abilities is open to any player with a disability. “Disability” means a disability as defined by the Disability Act 2006 that a person requires ongoing support by the Department of Human Services or other disability provider or there is other medical evidence that supports that the person has a disability that would qualify them for ongoing support from the Department of Human Services.
VICTORIAN VIKINGS ALL ABILITIES SQUAD
Each year an annual Vikings team is selected to play in the National Cricket Inclusion Championships and players receive access to high performance coaching opportunities with further aspirations to represent Australia.
Members of this team come from across Victoria with many coming from both traditional Community Cricket Clubs as well as the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA). Congratulations to Seaford Tigers player Lachlan Mitchell who was selected to play in the 2022/23 Victorian Vikings squad, representing Victoria. Well done Lachlan!
SEASON 2023/24

HISTORY - FRANKSTON PENINSULA DOLPHIN SPORTS
It was 2013 when Reclink Australia contacted Alan Quaife to see if he would be interested in putting together a football team in Frankston to compete in the Victorian Reclink Football League, playing against other suburbs such as Collingwood, Geelong, St Kilda and Bendigo.
The side now has an average of 40 players and has not only built a strong team, winning the 2014 Premiership in what was just their second year in the competition but they have also built lifelong mateship's amongst each other.
With the unprecedented popularity of the Frankston Dolphin Sports football team, it was decided that additional sports needed to be introduced into the area during the summer months and so entering a team into the MAACA league through Seaford Tigers was a natural progression for Alan.
Both football and cricket has taught the participants to become better citizens, it keeps them off the streets, it helps them to become drug and alcohol free and it puts them in good stead to become employed, helping them to reconnect with their community.
VALE COACH ALAN QUAIFE
Alan Quaife had been around sport all of his life, mainly football having coached many clubs within the V.A.F.A (20 years & 11 Premierships) and the S.F.L (10 years, 3 Premierships). Alan also played for Collingwood & Fitzroy in the former VFL competition and Northcote VFA. Fourteen football premierships and a host of finals campaigns are testament to his ability to motivate men.
Alan helped to rebuild many lives through 'Frankston Peninsula Dolphin Sports' (FPDS) various sporting teams by being a coach, a mentor and a friend to the participants.
Alan Quaife volunteered hundreds of hours of his time over the past 6 years to coach the FPDS football team, basketball teams and the STCC MAACA cricket team.
On Australia Day 2015, Alan was named Frankston’s Senior Citizen of the year and in 2018 he was named Frankston's Volunteer of the Year. Alan's awards reflect his tireless work being involved in every facet of the Frankston Peninsula Dolphin Sports teams. Alan sadly lost a long battle with illness in August 2019 and will be sadly missed by all that knew him
